About Sherry
Sherry Harradence is an American-Canadian painter working in oil, watercolour, and acrylic. Her work moves between the intimate and the expansive — a single bloom in a jar, a field stretching toward the horizon, the particular quality of afternoon light on an old wall.
She has been painting seriously for over two decades, drawn early to the way paint could hold both precision and mystery at once. Her training was largely self-directed, shaped by years of close looking — at the masters, at the natural world, at the ordinary things most people walk past.
Her paintings have found homes across North America and internationally, and she continues to take commissions for collectors who want something made specifically for them.
What Drives the Work
Light
The way it falls, shifts, and disappears. Golden hour, overcast mornings, the blue of late afternoon — light is always the first thing she notices and the last thing she resolves.
Memory
Many paintings begin with a feeling rather than a subject — the specific warmth of a remembered place, the texture of a season. She paints what she wants to keep.
Stillness
In a loud world, she is drawn to quiet subjects. A bowl of fruit. An empty chair. A garden after rain. There is more happening in stillness than it first appears.
In the Studio
Sherry works from a home studio, surrounded by reference sketches, collected objects, and the particular mess that comes with working in multiple mediums at once. She paints most mornings, when the light is best and the day hasn't yet made its demands.
She is currently accepting commissions and welcomes inquiries from collectors at any stage — whether you have a clear vision or just a feeling you'd like to explore.
